Bacula4Hosts is a collaboration between several organizations. Bacula.org provides the open source code and licensing for their community edition. Bacula Systems is the commercial support, services and training organization for enterprises using Bacula. Bacula Systems provide several commercial modules for Bacula including Bare Metal Restore (BMR) modules for Linux and Windows and the Microsoft VSS modules required to activate advanced backup and recovery capabilities for Windows and Microsoft SQL as well as providing backup and recovery solutions for Sharepoint and Exchange platforms. Bacula4Hosts, utilizing a combination of the Open Source Community Edition, a licensing model with Bacula Systems Enterprise modules that makes sense for service providers, as well as, our own custom built GUIs and APIs, are able to bring a comprehensive and specialized backup and recovery solution to market for web hosting service providers. Bacula4Hosts is able to bring a Bacula4Hosts Value Added Open Source and a Bacula4Hosts Enterprise editions to market to suit the needs of a wide range of service providers.

What is Bacula?

Bacula is a set of computer programs that permits the system administrator to manage backup, recovery, and verification of computer data across a network of computers of different kinds. Bacula can also run entirely upon a single computer and can backup to various types of media, including tape and disk.

In technical terms, it is a network Client/Server based backup program. Bacula is relatively easy to use and efficient, while offering many advanced storage management features that make it easy to find and recover lost or damaged files. Due to its modular design, Bacula is scalable from small single computer systems to systems consisting of hundreds of computers located over a large network.
